POSITION DETAILS:
We are seeking dependable, dedicated caregivers with strong work
ethics to serve clients with developmental and physical disabilities.  Paid training is provided.  The job description, including qualifications for the  position, can be found below.

Qualification Requirements:  
• Must be over the age of 18. 
• High School graduate or GED equivalent. 
• Valid, current, Michigan Driver’s license which agrees with our insurance  company’s requirements for direct care workers driving our vehicles and transporting residents. 
• Ability to lift 65 pounds frequently throughout the work shift. 
• Successful completion of pre-employment physical, TB Test, Drug Screen, and Criminal Check. 
• Demonstrate good moral character as defined by Rule 400.1152 of The Adult Foster Care Licensing Rules.
• Ability to communicate positively and effectively with residents and work as a team player with fellow employees.
• Must have sufficient visual and auditory acuity with or without corrective lenses/aids to observe clients and detect signs of changes in client behavior, adverse medication reactions, or other activity or event requiring intervention.

Preferred Qualifications: 
• Prior experience in direct support work. 

Direct Support Staff: work directly with adults that have developmental disabilities in a residential (group home) setting.

The range of support to the clients may include personal care, transportation, engaging clients in leisure/recreational activities, attending to medical needs, and more.  Other tasks include a  full range of household duties such as meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry,  etc.
Community Living Supports (CLS) are used to increase or  maintain personal self-sufficiency, facilitating an individual's achievement of  his or her goals of community inclusion and participation, independence or productivity.  Staff work one-on-one with the client. The supports may be provided in the client's residence or in community settings (including, but not  limited to, libraries, city pools, etc.)

Staff duties may  include assisting, guiding and/or training in some of the following  areas: meal planning and preparation, household care and maintenance,  activities of daily living, coping skills, personal hygiene, behavior support, money management, socialization and relationship  building, transportation to community activities, and participation in regular  community activities and recreation opportunities.

Training:
Paid training is provided for all of our positions.  Initially, new staff must be available during the weekdays to attend the required training.  Most training takes place in Holland. The training schedules can be viewed at: http://www.co.ottawa.mi.us/HealthComm/CMH/training.htm
