About our Social Recreation Program

Based in Allendale and Coopersville Michigan, our Social Recreation Program offers community-based services. These services are physically, mentally, and socially enriching. This program is available to residents of Ottawa County with disabilities that are 18 years of age and older. Events regularly occur at our facility and in community settings. Common community settings include libraries, museums, parks, universities, and other venues of personal interest. Our program's services help foster meaningful interactions between peers, community members, and our highly motivated team. All events are provided free of charge. Transportation services may be provided. We also offer weekly virtual activities.  Our monthly calendar is provided below!

​Program Services

Our Social Recreation Program emphasizes social skill building through recreational activities and social resources. We provide facility-based activities and community integration opportunities. Social Recreation staff are trained in disability awareness, first aid, and CPR.

Some of our facility-based activities involve sensory experiences, crafts, DIY projects, games, music, art, science, writing, sports, food, movies, music and art therapy, themed parties, and much more!

At our facility, we also offer a variety of healthy wellness groups. These groups may involve nutritional meal planning, exercise groups, mindfulness activities, mental health groups, adaptive yoga, cardio drumming, etc. 

Our community outings involve venues like the Grand Rapids Public Museum, Frederik Meijer Sculpture Gardens, John Ball Zoo, AJ's Familly Fun Center, LMCU Ballpark, Van Andel Arena, and other areas of interest!
